Put EdCamp Leander and Playdate ATX on Your PD Calendar This Spring

It's Spring. Birds are chirping. Colors seem a little brighter. It's a time for adventure and discovery. Perhaps it's time to try something new with your professional development. How about an EdCamp and a Playdate?

Leander ISD is hosting it's first EdCamp on April 12th at Running Brushy Middle School. If you missed RRISD's EdCamp on Feb. 1st, here is you chance to find out what the craze is all about. It will be a day of learning driven by the participants. If you are a RRISD teacher, just make sure you sign in that morning and we will make sure you get PD credit. Click here to register. Follow #edcampleander that day to share in the learning.

Another upcoming opportunity Playdate ATX being organized by Manor ISD. A Playdate is an event with an education technology focus and an opportunity for attendees to share and learn more about their favorite. There are no presenters or set sessions, so click here to see a video that tells more about what to expect at a PLAYDATE.

Playdate ATX will take place on Saturday, May 3rd at Decker Elementary in Manor. And likewise, Round Rock ISD teachers will get PD credit for attending. If you can't make it, follow #playdate14 that day.

If you have any questions about these upcoming opportunities, please post your questions in the RRISD PD Google+ Community

What is Your Immunity to Change? Join Us in Your Journey to Discovery. Earn PD Credit for a MOOC.

Everyone wants to change something about themselves. Personal changes, professional changes, and dietary changes are usually high on everyone's list and yet we still struggle. But why can't we make those changes? What is getting in the way?  Join us to find out.

Several Round Rock ISD folks were lucky enough to attend the Harvard Learning Lab over the last few years and spend time with many great thinkers and learning sessions. One session though set itself apart from what you expect as a traditional education session. Simply put, it was Dr. Bob Kegan and Dr. Lisa Lahey's Immunity to Change protocol. Click here to read an account: from last Spring's session.

We believe the learning from that session was important enough to bring it back to everyone in Round Rock ISD. +Anna Warren+Rebecca Haynes, and +Ryan Smith will be facilitating the Immunity to Change Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with EdX and HarvardX for RRISD. We will host a Google+ Hangout every two weeks for RRISD students to check in and talk about their work.

Sign-up for the online course on EdX at: and eCampus (4561.26321) complete the Honor Code Certificate program at EdX. It is a 15-week course, with an expected work-load of two-hours each week. Turn in the certificate at the end for 30 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits.

Class starts March 11th, but you can still take your Spring Break and get caught up in time to earn the certificate through EdX.

Your RRISD facilitators will be taking the course with you and checking in with you in Round Rock ISD PD Google+ Community:

Dr. Kegan will also be delivering the training in RRISD on Saturday, March 29th for RRISE participants. If you are a RRISE participant, click here for more information on the training.

The first Hangout check-in will be Tuesday, March 25th at 7:00. Sign-Up Here! And please email for any questions.
